Rema Biography: Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, is a Nigerian singer and rapper who was born on May 1, 2000. He signed a record deal with Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in 2019. His parents gave him the name Divine eight days after he was born on Worker’s Day. He is the family’s firstborn and first male child.

He rose to prominence after his song “Iron Man” was included on Barack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist. Rema was born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, into a highly spiritual Christian family. Rema grew up singing and rapping in high school. In Edo State, he attended primary and secondary school.

After being discovered by A&R and talent manager D’Prince, he was signed to Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records. Rema rose to prominence in the industry after releasing his self-titled debut album, Rema, which featured hit singles such as Dumebi and Iron Man.

Former US President Barack Obama included the latter song on his Summer Playlist. In 2019, he won the coveted Next Rated Artist award at The Headies.
