Joeboy Music Career

Joeboy Biography

Joeboy Biography

Joeboy, as previously stated, had early musical influences in the form of his father and elder brother. Another major motivator was that his elder brother gave him the opportunity to meet with famous Nigerian musicians at a young age.

He had the opportunity to work in the studio with 9ice and ID Cabasa, two early pioneers of Nigerian street Afro-pop. This most likely showed him his career path at a young age. He has been making music since he was 17 years old, according to him. Around that time, Joeboy recorded a lesser-known song called “Gbeseyin.”

Joeboy, on the other hand, claims that his career began in 2017. He was 20 years old at the time and had released a cover of Ed Sheeran.

The song received a lot of positive feedback, which put the singer on the right track.

This cover also piqued the interest of renowned Nigerian singer Mr Eazi, who helped to mainstream the Banku music narrative.

Joeboy was chosen as one of 10,000 young artists from 14 African countries for Mr. Eazi’s “emPawa Africa.” Joeboy was one of the first 100 people to receive a $3,000 grant, which he used to create his music video “Faaji.” Joeboy was also one of ten artists chosen for a mentorship boot camp in South Africa, as well as one of two artists who received an additional $50,000.
